1st TAMIL NADU STATE LEVEL KC OPEN & CHILDREN’S CHESS TOURNAMENT 2022

The one day State Level Open & Children’s Chess tournament held on 13th November at Kamaraj College, Thoothukudi attracted 545 players from 16 districts. This event was formerly inaugurated by Mr. NeethiRajan, Senior Manager, Tamil Nadu Mercantile Bank, Thoothukudi in the presence of Mr.Somu, Secretary, Kamaraj College, Dr.Poongudi, Principal i/c, Dr.Vaseegaran, Vice President,TDCA, Dr.Mohanraj, Vice President TDCA , Dr.T.Karpgavalli, Asst Professor, Kamaraj College &Secretary, TDCA and IA Ganesh Babu, Chief Arbiter.
P Stanley Samson, Alumni, Kamaraj College finished 1st place with 5.5 points in the Open category and received the cash prize of Rs.3000 and B Velmurugan of Kamaraj College, Thoothukudi scored 5.0 points and received 3rd prize.
In the Category level tournament for U9, U11, U13 and U15, Danish of Chennai won the Under-9 boys title and Deepthaashri Ravi Ganesh of Madurai won the Under-9 Girls title. Prithvi Raja S of Tirunelveli won the1st place in the Under-11 boys category and ShanmathiSree S of Chennai won the U- 11 girls category.
B Yashwant of Madurai won the title in Under-13 boys category and Tawfeeqa of Tirunelveli won the U-13 girls category. Jai Sankar Subramanian of Madurai won the Under-15 boys and Deepa Devi S of Madurai won the U-15 girls title.
Honourable Minister Mrs. P Geetha Jeevan, Minister for Social Welfare and Women Empowerment distributed 8 cycles to the title Winners and 120 Cups and shields to the other winners and also honoured the open prize winners with cash awards.
The tournament had the backing up of Kamaraj College and TDCA members -Mr. Somu, Secretary, Kamaraj College, Mr.R.Muthuselvam, Treasurere, Kamaraj College, Mr. Joe Prakash, President, TDCA, Mr.RybinThartius, Vice President, TDCA, Dr.Mohanraj,Vice President, Kamaraj College and Honourable Member, TDCA, S Ganesh Babu IA, Chief Arbiter, Dr. T Karpagavalli, Organizing Secretary, Mr.Raj Kumar, Asir Maruti, Mr. Balasingh, Physical Director, Mr.Balamurugan, and many others.
