CM Trophy Chess: 4 Outstanding Prize Winners from Kamaraj College

Four students of Kamaraj College (Autonomous), Thoothukudi, secured prizes in the district-level Chief Minister’s Trophy Chess Competition. The students won positions in both the men’s and women’s categories.

C. Manishwar won first prize in the men’s category, while Balamurugan secured third prize. In the women’s category, Pushpa Evangeline won second prize and Anusha secured third prize.

The four CM Trophy Chess winners received cash prizes totalling ₹7,000. Their results brought recognition to the college across both categories of the district-level competition.

Men’s category: first and third prizes

C. Manishwar, a second-year B.Sc. Computer Science student, secured first prize in the men’s category. He received a cash prize of ₹3,000.

Winning first place is a significant result in a chess competition. It reflects the concentration and careful decision-making needed to compete successfully.

Balamurugan, a third-year B.Com. student, secured third prize in the same category. He received a cash prize of ₹1,000.

The two men’s category prizes gave Kamaraj College a strong result in CM Trophy Chess. Students from Computer Science and Commerce both contributed to the college’s achievement.

Although their academic subjects differ, the two students shared the same competitive platform. Their results show that interest in chess extends across departments at the college.

Women’s category: second and third prizes

Pushpa Evangeline, a second-year M.Sc. Computer Science student, won second prize in the women’s category. She received a cash prize of ₹2,000.

Anusha, a third-year B.Com. (SF) student, secured third prize. She received a cash prize of ₹1,000.

Together, the two students earned two places among the women’s category prize winners. Their success added to the college’s overall CM Trophy Chess result.

Pushpa Evangeline and Anusha represent different stages and areas of study. Their achievements also show the range of students taking part in competitive chess at Kamaraj College.
