The Department of Physics was established in the year 1988 with the introduction of the Undergraduate (B.Sc.) programme under the aided stream. To accommodate increasing student interest and academic demand, a parallel B.Sc. Physics programme under the self-supporting stream was launched in 1995.
The department is currently supported by a team of 10 experienced faculty members, including 5 in the aided stream and 5 in the self-supporting stream. With a strong focus on both theoretical understanding and experimental application, the department provides students with a well-rounded education in physical sciences.
In addition to its academic offerings, the department has actively contributed to the advancement of science through the successful undertaking of several major and minor research projects. These initiatives reflect the department’s commitment to fostering a culture of inquiry, innovation, and scientific contribution.
