MCA ADMISSION POLICY
We offer a Full-Time MCA Program at Kamaraj College, Thoothukudi. The duration of the MCA program is two years. The admission process is conducted through online applications, based on the eligibility criteria and reservation policy outlined below.
Eligibility
- A bachelor’s degree of minimum 3 years with Mathematics as one of the subjects after 10+2 examination, from a recognized board with a minimum aggregate of 50% (45% for SC/ST/PwD).
- Candidates in the final year of graduation are also eligible, provided they have a certificate from the Head of the Institution.
- A valid cut-off score of TANCET / CAT / MAT / CET is required.
- Shortlisted candidates may be called for Group Discussion and Personal Interview rounds.
- Selected candidates from GD & Personal Interview will be permitted for admission.
TANCET (Tamil Nadu Common Entrance Test)
TANCET is conducted by Anna University, Chennai for admissions into MCA programs in Tamil Nadu.
Eligibility criteria:
- The candidate must hold a bachelor’s degree with Mathematics as one of the subjects from a recognized university.
- The candidate must have a graduation score of 50% or equivalent CGPA.
- Only candidates with a full-time bachelor’s degree are eligible to apply for TANCET.
CET (Common Entrance Test)
CET is conducted by the Consortium of Self-Financing Professional, Arts and Science Colleges in Tamil Nadu for admission into MCA programs of self-financing colleges.
Eligibility criteria:
- The candidate must hold a bachelor’s degree with Mathematics as one of the subjects from a recognized university.
- The candidate must have a graduation score of 50% or equivalent CGPA.
- Only candidates with a full-time bachelor’s degree are eligible to apply for CET.
Reservation Policy
As per the Tamil Nadu Government norms:
- 50% of candidates must be admitted through TANCET.
- 50% of seats can be filled by College Management based on CET/CAT/MAT scores.
Admission through TANCET
Candidates must score a minimum percentile in the qualifying exam based on their category. The qualifying scores are as follows:
- Unreserved categories: Minimum of 50% in the qualifying degree.
- Reserved categories: Minimum of 45% in the qualifying degree.
