Youth Red Cross Orientation Programme

The Youth Red Cross Orientation Programme was successfully organized by the Youth Red Cross of Kamaraj College Autonomous Thoothukudi on 17 December 2025 from 01.30 pm to 03.00 pm at the Seminar Hall AMMS Ganesan Nadar Block. The programme aimed to introduce students to the values principles and activities of the Youth Red Cross movement and to inspire them to participate actively in humanitarian service.

The orientation programme provided students with a strong foundation in social responsibility service to humanity peace harmony and community outreach.

Objectives of the Youth Red Cross Orientation Programme

The main objectives of the Youth Red Cross Orientation Programme were to:

  • Create awareness about humanitarian values
  • Introduce the principles of the Red Cross movement
  • Encourage student participation in social service
  • Promote peace harmony and community development
  • Develop leadership and service mindedness among youth

Welcome Address and Opening Session

The programme began with a warm welcome address by Dr S Nazerath Nisha YRC Coordinator. She welcomed the gathering and formally introduced the chief guests of the day. In her address she highlighted the importance of the Youth Red Cross in shaping socially responsible students and encouraging service beyond academics.

Her words set a positive and inspiring tone for the orientation programme.

Session on Basic Principles and Humanitarian Service

The first session of the Youth Red Cross Orientation Programme was delivered by Dr R Karuppasamy MC Member IRCS Tuticorin Branch. He explained the basic principles of the Red Cross movement in a clear and student friendly manner.

He spoke in detail about:

  • Humanitarian service
  • Community outreach programmes
  • Peace and harmony
  • Role of youth in social service

The session helped students understand how Red Cross values can be practiced in daily life and how young people can contribute positively to society.

History and Functioning of Youth Red Cross

The second session was handled by Dr S Vaseekaran Chairman IRCS Thoothukudi. He explained the history of the Red Cross movement and the functioning of Youth Red Cross activities at national state and district levels.

He shared insights on:

  • Objectives of Youth Red Cross
  • Disaster relief and emergency services
  • Health awareness and blood donation activities

The session helped students understand the structured approach of Youth Red Cross activities and the opportunities available for student volunteers.

Around 80 students actively participated in the Youth Red Cross Orientation Programme. The students listened attentively and gained valuable knowledge about humanitarian service and social responsibility.

The Youth Red Cross Orientation Programme proved to be highly beneficial and inspiring for the participants and strengthened the culture of service and humanitarian values within the campus.
