BOTANY
PREAMBLE
The Department of Botany was established in the year 1985 with the goal of advancing knowledge in plant sciences and promoting environmental awareness. Since its inception, the department has played a key role in providing a strong foundation in botanical education and research.
Currently, the department offers both B.Sc. Botany and M.Sc. Botany programmes, catering to undergraduate and postgraduate students with a keen interest in plant biology, ecology, taxonomy, and applied botany. The curriculum blends theoretical instruction with practical laboratory work, field studies, and project-based learning to equip students with the skills required for higher education, research, and employment in various scientific fields.
The department is supported by one faculty member in the aided stream, who brings dedication and subject expertise to the classroom and laboratory. Despite its lean structure, the Department of Botany fosters a close-knit, student-focused academic environment that encourages inquiry, observation, and critical thinking.
