District Chess Winners: 4 Remarkable Achievements

Four students of Kamaraj College (Autonomous), Thoothukudi, won prizes in the district-level Chief Minister’s Trophy Chess Competition. They secured positions in both the men’s and women’s categories.

The District Chess Winners are C. Manishwar, Balamurugan, Pushpa Evangeline, and Anusha. Together, they received ₹7,000 in cash prizes.

Their achievement brought recognition to the college and its Chess Club. It also showed the interest in competitive chess among students from different academic programmes.

First and third prizes in the men’s category

C. Manishwar of II B.Sc. Computer Science secured first prize in the men’s category. He received a cash award of ₹3,000.

First place was a significant achievement for Manishwar. He represented the college at the district level and earned the top position in his category.

Balamurugan of III B.Com. secured third prize in the men’s category. His result earned him a cash award of ₹1,000.

With two students among the men’s category prize winners, Kamaraj College recorded a strong result. Their achievements came from two different courses, Computer Science and Commerce.

Both students had to compete as individuals while representing the same institution. Their results gave the college two places to celebrate in the men’s competition.

Second and third prizes in the women’s category

Pushpa Evangeline of II M.Sc. Computer Science won second prize in the women’s category. She received ₹2,000 as a cash award.

Anusha of III B.Com. (SF) secured third prize in the same category. She received a cash award of ₹1,000.
