Photography Contest 2026: 107 Talented Students Capture Creativity

Report on On-Spot Photography Competition

Photography Contest was organized by the Department of Commerce (SF), Kamaraj College (Autonomous), Thoothukudi, on 21 August 2026 at the GJ Block. The department conducted the On-Spot Photography Competition as part of the World Photography Day celebrations under the KC Pearl Commerce Association Intra-Department Cultural Competitions.

The event provided students with an opportunity to demonstrate their creativity, observation skills and photographic talent. Moreover, the on-the-spot format encouraged participants to observe their surroundings carefully and capture meaningful images from their own perspectives.

Objectives of the Photography Contest

The Photography Contest aimed to encourage students to explore photography as a creative form of visual communication.

The major objectives included:

  • Encourage creativity and original thinking
  • Develop observation skills among students
  • Provide a platform to demonstrate photographic talent
  • Improve students’ understanding of framing and lighting
  • Encourage visual storytelling through photography

107 Students Participate Enthusiastically

A total of 107 students participated in the Photography Contest, reflecting strong interest in the creative event.

The organizers maintained attendance records containing the participants’ lot numbers and classes. This systematic arrangement helped ensure the smooth conduct of the competition.

Furthermore, the large participation created a lively atmosphere and provided students with an opportunity to explore their surroundings from different creative perspectives.

On-Spot Photography Challenge

The on-the-spot format encouraged participants to use their observation and creative thinking skills within the given environment.

Prize Winners – Boys Category

The following students secured the top three positions in the Boys Category:

  • I Prize: Mr. Guru Roshan J. – Lot No. 43 – 80 marks
  • II Prize: Mr. Kannan A. – Lot No. 03 – 78 marks
  • III Prize: Mr. Sudalaimuthu – Lot No. 61 – 72 marks

The winners demonstrated strong observation, creativity and photographic presentation skills. Their performance also reflected their ability to use the available environment effectively for visual expression.

Prize Winners – Girls Category

The following students emerged as winners in the Girls Category:

  • I Prize: Ms. Keerthana V. – Lot No. 37 – 59 marks
  • II Prize: Ms. Mageshwari V. – Lot No. 67 – 51 marks
  • III Prize: Ms. Vaishnavi S. – Lot No. 36 – 45 marks

Their photographs demonstrated creativity and individual perspectives. Moreover, the competition encouraged them to communicate ideas and observations effectively through visual images.

Developing Creative and Observation Skills

The Photography Contest offered students a practical opportunity to understand how photography combines technical knowledge with artistic expression.
