Fireless Cooking: 6 Creative Teams Win Top Prizes

Report on Intra-Department Fireless Cooking Competition

Fireless Cooking took centre stage at an Intra-Department Cultural Competition organized by the Department of Commerce (SF), in association with the KC Pearl Commerce Association of Kamaraj College (Autonomous), Thoothukudi. The competition was held on 12 August 2026 (Tuesday) from 12.00 noon to 1.00 p.m. at the GJ Block as part of the department’s student enrichment and cultural activities.

The event provided students with a creative platform to prepare attractive and nutritious dishes without using fire. Moreover, it encouraged them to develop teamwork, presentation skills, time management and awareness of healthy food practices.

Objectives of the Competition

The Fireless Cooking competition aimed to combine creativity with practical learning. It encouraged students to explore innovative food preparation methods while understanding the importance of nutrition and hygiene.

The key objectives included:

Creative Fireless Cooking

  • Second Prize: L. Santhosh Kumar and S. Azariah Thiraviyam – Lot No. 42, II B.Com (BF)
  • Third Prize: R. Mari Sahasrajith and M. Mohammed Isbulla – Lot No. 50, II B.Com Batch II
  • Third Prize: N. Jenson and R. Billian Paul Edison – Lot No. 13, I B.Com B.F

The winning teams demonstrated creativity, teamwork and effective presentation through their dishes.

Girls Category Winners

The girls’ teams also showcased impressive culinary creativity during the Fireless Cooking competition.

The winners were:

  • Second Prize: M. Anitha and P. Aarthi – Lot No. 75, II B.Com B&E
  • Third Prize: S. Santhana Priya and M. Esakkiammal – Lot No. 38, III B.Com (B.F)
  • Third Prize: M. Kalaivani and M. Jensi Clara – Lot No. 05, II M.Com

Moreover, the participants displayed excellent creativity in combining ingredients and presenting their dishes in visually appealing ways.
