The Department of Mathematics was established in 1968, making it the first undergraduate science department of the college. It began with the B.Sc. Mathematics programme under the aided stream, laying a strong academic foundation in mathematical sciences.
In 1981, the department expanded its offerings by introducing the M.Sc. Mathematics programme. It was further elevated as a full-fledged Research Department in 2013, guiding both part-time and full-time research scholars in various areas of mathematics.
To meet growing student demand, the department launched a self-financed B.Sc. Mathematics programme in 2016.
Currently, the department comprises 11 faculty members, including 7 in the aided stream and 4 in the self-supporting stream. With a strong focus on academic excellence, research, and student engagement, the Department of Mathematics continues to be a cornerstone of the institution’s academic landscape.
