Kamaraj College celebrated the Pongal on 12-Jan in it’s premises.The celebration started with preparation Pongal in the traditional method.

Detailed description of event

Event became very colourful as the students came in tradition/ethnic dresses. The teachers and the Leadership team decorated the event by making their presence in traditional wear. Students performed traditional dances to depict the tamil culture. Students of Kamaraj College staged few Dramas;

Thai Pongal is a Tamil harvest festival. Thai Pongal is a four-day festival which according to the Gregorian calendar is normally celebrated from January 13 to January 16, .

Objectives of the event

Pongal is the embodiment of Tamil culture. It is during Pongal that the best in the nature and the skills of the people are brought out. Therefore, it is no wonder that people celebrate Pongal to show their gratitude to Mother Nature for blessing them with normal rainfall. Hundreds of temples all over Tamil Nadu arrange for 'Sama Bandhi Virundu' (community feasts) in which people from all castes and religions participate.
