The Tuticorin Educational Society is a non-profit, registered society formed in the year 1966 by Thiru. A.M.M.S. Ganesan Nadar, and Karapettai Hindu Nadar Sangam, a leading Hindu Charitable organization in Thoothukudi.
Thiru. A.M.M.S. Ganesan Nadar, Managing Director of the Tuticorin Spinning Mills, served as the founder Patron of the Society, and was instrumental in the development of the college.
The Society presently runs two educational institutions in its 50 acre campus at Thoothukudi. Kamaraj College, one of the finest institutes for Arts, Science and Commerce programs, and Kamaraj School, a much sought after matriculation school.
Together, the campus houses over 4000 students, as of AY 2019-20, making it one of the largest campuses in Tamil Nadu.
Most of the students are from rural background, and this fulfils the society’s stated objective of upliftment of the community.
Kamaraj College is affiliated to Manonmanium Sundarnar University, Tirunelveli. Bharat Ratna Kamarajar Matriculation Higher Secondary School, or Kamaraj School in short, is accredited to the Directorate of Matriculation Schools, Govt. of Tamil Nadu.
