Founding Society

The Tuticorin Educational Society is a non-profit, registered society formed in the year 1966 by leading Hindu Nadar organizations in Thoothukudi, Tamil Nadu. Thiru. A.M.M.S. Ganesan Nadar was instrumental in the establishment of the Society, and served as its founder Patron.

The Society currently runs two educational institutions in the city of Thoothukudi. Kamaraj College, a leading Arts and Science College, and Kamaraj School, a leading matriculation school, are run by the Society in its 50 acre campus in the heart of the city.

Since 2015, major development works have been undertaken by the managing committee, and campus strength has increased from 2300 students in 2016 to well over 4100 students in 2019. Major initiatives have been taken up with a view to provide a high quality education to the down-trodden people in the district.

Kamaraj College, established by the Tuticorin Educational Society in 1966, is affiliated to Manonmanium University, Tirunelveli. It offers degree courses in the Arts, Science and Commerce streams. The college has one of the biggest academic research facilities in southern Tamil Nadu, with research centres encompassing eight departments. The college is well known in the district for its academic excellence.

Bharat Ratna Kamarajar Matriculation Higher Secondary School, or Kamaraj School in short, was established by the Tuticorin Educational Society in the year 2005. The school is accredited to the Directorate of Matriculation Schools, Govt. of Tamil Nadu. Classes start from pre-kinder garden (Pre-KG) to +2 (Twelfth Standard) within the Matriculation Board. The school has tied up with Hello Kids Montessori System for KG students and X-Seed advanced educational system for classes Standard One to Standard Eight.
